Description	This course is a continuation of the Beginning Spanish course given last semester. Students will continue to work on learning the grammar well and learning basic vocab words and phrases. No books or materials are needed, since the students will be relying on in class learning and practice sheets. Homework will consist of 20 minutes of Spanish exercises 4-5 days a week plus memorization of vocab. I will be having the students do bi-weekly quizzes which will count towards the final grade. Students will be expected to finish their homework in order to learn the lessons well. Students should bring a notebook or binder plus pencils to take notes during class. With these jazz combos he has performed at events such as the Eastern Michigan University Regent’s Dinner, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, 5:01 Jazz in Ann Arbor, and the Michigan Jazz Festival. Spencer is also part of a local band that has played numerous shows in states across the Midwest. Homework	Ronni believes that practice is always required to grow musically, but she also knows that if a student isn't having fun with lessons and the piano, learning is likely to not happen. Practicing is highly encouraged, but she does not require "practice logs" as part of the learning process. Ronni offers rewards to motivate her students and encourages parents to offer a space for their child to practice at home. It's has been Ronni's experience that much musical material is remembered when the student is in a stress-free environment and is in a "playful mindset" while playing the piano. Practicing will happen when the student is enjoying the piano.
Materials	Ronni uses the Bastien Piano Basics curriculum. There are four books - piano, performance, technique and theory. All levels are available. She also takes into consideration what each student enjoys playing and implements those genres of music in lessons.
Description	During the 30 minute private lesson, students will learn musical theory, scales and performance songs. Ronni believes in providing a solid musical foundation where students learn to read music and can eventually play any song they desire, not just copy/memorize a piece or two. Instructor Bio	Piano has been a part of Ronni Brennan's life since she began taking lessons at the age of three. She continued lessons until she left for college where she became a certified elementary school teacher. Throughout her college career at Eastern Michigan University, she was a member of the symphonic band and marching band from 1989 to 1993. In 1990, she became Eastern Michigan University's first female Drum Major of the then EMU Marching Hurons. After teaching fourth grade for four years, Ronni decided to become a stay-at-home mom and teach a few piano lessons. She began with two students in 1999. She now has over 40 students and absolutely loves her job! Ronni has done community musical theater, plays piano and sings in her church worship band, and plays and sings with her sister at a variety of church and community functions. Outside of teaching, Ronni enjoys being with her family, reading, knitting, baking bread, spending time and having fun with friends and jumping rope!

Description	In this class, students will continue drawing portraiture and the human form to include exercises in gesture. They will apply the skills learned in the Fall Session to further develop their understanding and ability to sketch the human form. By the end of the semester, students will be able to complete a composition to include a full figure. We will experiment with graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. Instructor Bio	Hollyann is from Canton, Michigan. She is passionate about art and science and is enthusiastic about sharing these disciplines with others. She integrated these passions by earning a BA in Art and Design with a concentration in Physiology from the University of Michigan. While in college, Hollyann tutored U-M student athletes and used her multimedia artwork to teach elementary and middle school-aged children about the human body. She has worked for four years as a camp counselor at the Real Life Day Camp and Farm. Hollyann currently works as a mediator and social media artist for Science Gallery Detroit, an international organization that promotes public engagement through science, art, and technology. She also works as an activity aide at MediLodge of Plymouth, where she leads a variety of individual and group activities with senior citizens to facilitate social interaction, stimulation, and creativity. Homework	Preparation for laboratory class will include reading appropriate chapters in the text and pre-reading the lab instructions. Lab reports for each laboratory exercise will be written.

Curriculum	Students are responsible to purchase or borrow a text book (Exploring Creation with Biology - J Wile 2nd Edition ISBN 1-932012-54-0)
Homework	Students will be expected to work outside class time for approximately an hour a day (5-6 hours a week) although this time will vary from student to student and week to week. Assignments will be given that must be completed in the following week.
Prerequisites	Students must have a firm grounding in middle-school level general and physical science.
Materials	All other class materials and supplies are included in the class fee. Students provide a looseleaf binder with lined paper and 5 section dividers, writing implements, rulers, etc. Some students elect to purchase the spiral bound student notebook that accompanies the textbook but they will still need a binder for homework assignments. DO NOT purchase the solution manual. I will send out solutions to the study guide as well as send tests home with students for parents to proctor. You will not need the solution manual.
Description	This class will take a taxonomic approach to studying Biology primarily using the 5 major kingdom approach to classification. The class will also include a brief study of biochemistry as well as a discussion of cellular anatomy and cellular reproduction. In addition the course includes modules that explore theories of the origin of life as well as a unit on ecological considerations. Laboratory exercises will include instruction and practice in the use of microscopes to observe and identify microscopic organisms, a microscopic study of various plant and animal tissues, microscopic observation of cellular reproduction, as well as 5 animal and plant dissections. Instructor Bio	Stephanie Smith, Ph.D. My work experience includes teaching as a college professor, working in the UK government regulatory department for the food industry and working as a research microbiologist in the industry. Additional Information	This class will be all of 3rd hour and 20 minutes of lunch to include a lecture and a lab. This does count as a lab science. Although this does not reduce the course work load on Instructor or student, Mrs. Smith has reduced the class fee accordingly.

Ronni offers rewards to motivate her students and encourages parents to offer a space for their child to practice at home. It's has been Ronni's experience that much musical material is remembered when the student is in a stress-free environment and is in a "playful mindset" while playing the piano. She continued lessons until she left for college where she became a certified elementary school teacher. Throughout her college career at Eastern Michigan University, she was a member of the symphonic band and marching band from 1989 to 1993. In 1990, she became Eastern Michigan University's first female Drum Major of the then EMU Marching Hurons. After teaching fourth grade for four years, Ronni decided to become a stay-at-home mom and teach a few piano lessons. She began with two students in 1999. She now has over 40 students and absolutely loves her job! Ronni has done community musical theater, plays piano and sings in her church worship band, and plays and sings with her sister at a variety of church and community functions. Outside of teaching, Ronni enjoys being with her family, reading, knitting, baking bread, spending time and having fun with friends and jumping rope!

Curriculum	Exploring Creation with Physical Science by Dr. Jay Wile (2 nd Edition preferred). Students must have the textbook and bring it with them to each class.
Homework	This class will require significant work at home. Expect approximately 30-60 minutes each day. Homework will include in-depth reading assignments, completing handouts and textbook questions, composing lab reports, studying for quizzes and exams, and completing module exams. Some experiments will need to be completed at home.
Materials	Each student must have a copy of the textbook. Additionally, students will need to bring a notebook and a writing utensil to class. Students will also need internet access at home, as assignments and other class communication will be through email. The instructor will provide materials for the in-class experiments.
Description	Following the Apologia textbook, this class will explore the physical aspects of the world and the universe it is in. Some concepts we will cover include atoms and molecules, unit conversions, air and its components, Earth’s atmosphere, water, the water cycle, geology, weather, the physics of motion, and Newton’s Laws of Motion. In-class and at-home experiments will provide hands-on learning, and students will practice scientific thinking and writing as they compose lab reports for many of the experiments. Exams will be given for each module to assess subject comprehension. This will be a fast-paced, academically rigorous science class. Students are expected to complete all assignments on time, and all work will be graded. By the end of the course, students can expect to have a better scientific understanding of the world around us.

Description	In this course, we will be watching a television course called Destinos. Here is a description of Destinos from the website: Destinos teaches speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in Spanish. This telenovela, or Spanish soap opera, immerses students in everyday situations with native speakers and introduces the cultures, accents, and dialects of Mexico, Spain, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. Understanding of Spanish and appreciation of many Hispanic cultures increase as students become absorbed in the mysterious and entertaining story. During each class, we will watch one to several episodes of Destinos. There would be little or no homework involved. This would mostly be a fun class that would help the Spanish students retain what they learned and give them the ability to learn Spanish more quickly. This course would be best for those who have had some Spanish learning, but beginning Spanish learners can take it as well. This is a great course to take in addition to a regular Spanish class. Description	Do you like to paint, color, and draw? Join us for Art Lab, where creating a great piece of art is easy and fun! Using teacher-selected, simple, step-by-step lessons chosen from various mixed media art books and other popular sources, students will complete a different project each week. Themes will include seasons, holidays, animals, sea life, history, travel, nature, and more. The class will be using a variety of mixed media such as watercolors, oil pastels, chalks, acrylics, tempera, and gouache paints, and other awesome art supplies. We’ll be making collages, landscapes, folk art, pop art, abstracts, doodles, and many other creative pictures. We will also recreate a few mini masterpieces by famous artists and learn some fun facts about popular artists too! Please Note: For students taking Art Camp as well, this class will be doing similar, yet different lessons, so there will not be repeated or identical projects in both classes :)

With these jazz combos he has performed at events such as the Eastern Michigan University Regent’s Dinner, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, 5:01 Jazz in Ann Arbor, and the Michigan Jazz Festival. Spencer is also part of a local band that has played numerous shows in states across the Midwest. Homework	Ronni believes that practice is always required to grow musically, but she also knows that if a student isn't having fun with lessons and the piano, learning is likely to not happen. Practicing is highly encouraged, but she does not require "practice logs" as part of the learning process. Ronni offers rewards to motivate her students and encourages parents to offer a space for their child to practice at home. It's has been Ronni's experience that much musical material is remembered when the student is in a stress-free environment and is in a "playful mindset" while playing the piano. Practicing will happen when the student is enjoying the piano.
Materials	Ronni uses the Bastien Piano Basics curriculum. There are four books - piano, performance, technique and theory. All levels are available. She also takes into consideration what each student enjoys playing and implements those genres of music in lessons.

She continued lessons until she left for college where she became a certified elementary school teacher. Throughout her college career at Eastern Michigan University, she was a member of the symphonic band and marching band from 1989 to 1993. In 1990, she became Eastern Michigan University's first female Drum Major of the then EMU Marching Hurons. After teaching fourth grade for four years, Ronni decided to become a stay-at-home mom and teach a few piano lessons. She began with two students in 1999. She now has over 40 students and absolutely loves her job! Ronni has done community musical theater, plays piano and sings in her church worship band, and plays and sings with her sister at a variety of church and community functions. Outside of teaching, Ronni enjoys being with her family, reading, knitting, baking bread, spending time and having fun with friends and jumping rope!
